How to identify the reliability of outdoor column LED display can be mainly carried out from the following three aspects:

First, identify and test the foundation of the column LED display.

There are two main basic forms and arrangements:

  1. One is the balanced gravity type, that is, the upper load is mainly balanced by the gravity of the large volume foundation, generally a concrete foundation. This foundation form is suitable for use when the soil is soft and there is an open construction site.

  2. The other is the pile foundation type, in which the expanded pile is the main type. This type of foundation can be used when the construction site is limited. When identifying the foundation of the advertising screen, you must first check its original drawings and construction materials, and then excavate the foundation if conditions permit, find out whether the foundation form, burial depth, size, etc. are consistent with the drawings, and conduct strength sampling tests on the concrete foundation of the advertising LED screen. In addition, during the on-site investigation, for the advertising screen using a balanced gravity foundation, special attention must be paid to whether the foundation soil around the root of the steel column is bulging or loose, and the soil surface is sunken after the foundation is shaken under the action of wind load. If so, it means that the foundation anti-overturning can no longer meet the requirements, and there is a risk of collapse at any time under the action of strong winds, and reinforcement must be carried out immediately. Under normal circumstances, this situation is less likely to occur with advertising screens using deep pile foundations.

Second, test and identify the material of the column.

  1. Check the connection quality between steel columns and foundation.

The steel pipe column of the advertising screen is generally connected to the foundation by bolts or welding. If it is connected by bolts, it is necessary to check whether there are any missing bolts during the inspection. The bolts cannot be deformed, slipped, loosened, or damaged; if there are design drawings, the specifications and models of the bolts must meet the design requirements; the bolts should be treated with rust prevention, and if they are severely rusted, they must be replaced immediately, and the bolts should be tightened firmly and reliably; for strength bolts, the exposed threads should be 2 to 3 threads, and 10% of the bolt threads are allowed to be exposed by 1 or 4 threads; the buried depth of the bolts must meet the requirements of the specifications.

  1. Inspection of steel columns.

First, the inclination of the steel column of the advertising screen must be measured. The inclination of the steel column cannot be greater than 1000/H and must be measured in two directions; secondly, the quality of the steel pipe column of the advertising screen must be tested. The appearance quality test of the steel can be divided into uniformity, whether there are interlayers, cracks, non-metallic inclusions and obvious segregation. When there is doubt about the quality of the steel, samples can be cut from the components to test the mechanical properties of the steel and analyze the chemical composition, but the safety of the structural components should be ensured. Then check whether the steel pipe column has rust and the quality of the protective coating of the steel structure. The quality of the protective coating of the steel structure should be tested in accordance with the provisions of the current relevant national product standards on the quality of the coating.

Third, check the upper steel frame rod system.

At present, there are two common forms of connection between steel columns and upper steel frame rod systems:

  1. One is T-shaped, whose main frame is made of steel columns and a transverse main beam on the upper part connected in a T-shape. The advertising screen is connected to the T-shaped frame structure through various hangers and diagonal braces.

  2. The other type is a space truss type, whose main frame is welded by a single steel column and several parallel transverse main beams on the upper part. The main beams are connected by horizontal and diagonal supports to form a space truss system. The advertising screen is directly installed on the main frame.

Therefore, there will be some safety hazards after the outdoor column LED display has been used for a period of time. This requires us to regularly inspect and maintain the main structure of the advertising screen and do rust prevention on the steel components to ensure the quality and safety of the column LED display.
